Strategies to get the perfect Myrtle Beach rental home experience:
Get the best rental home value:
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer is the most expensive season in coastal SC. To find the best value, try changing your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer warmer temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guide magazines have coupons for local accommodations, tours and attractions.
Choosing the best vacation rental in Myrtle Beach:
- First and foremost, have your group decide on dates and a max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Spacious three-story coastal villa with resort amenities, balconies & jetted tub has 8 bedrooms and 8 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rentals search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is often available online. If not, call the host before you book your home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches.
- Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or might be applied to your agreement.
- If there's an individual Myrtle Beach attraction you love, browse homes that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking.
Tips for a wonderful stay:
- Add the property manager's contact information to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents a lot of concerns.
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are out, just like you would at home.
- Document any damages to the property during check in, and immediately contact the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are very helpful if a dispute is filed.
- Be a good neighbor. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Double-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Remember to leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent reviews to compel future reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your experience find their best vacation rental. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
