Booking the best rental home experience:
How to get the best rental value:
- Summer is high season in Myrtle Beach. To find the best value, shift your family's Myrtle Beach vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer excellent temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier your group can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best properties are reserved very early. Booking your rental property up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Booking websites frequently offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guides contain offers and deals for nearby tours and attractions.
Selecting and booking the rightvacation home:
- Choose vacation week and maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration you need. Stunning modern townhouse just steps to the beach! Garage, elevator, beach gear! has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property owner before you book the property. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to determine which bed configuration is suitable for your vacation.
- Are you looking for specific amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. .
- Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional pet fees or costs might be applied to your invoice.
Advice for your stay:
- Take a copy of the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property. We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone.
- During arrival, document any issues with the property and immediately alert the owner. Record all coorespondence.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Keep the property locked while you're away! Don't let burglars spoil your vacation.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all personal items. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, remember to take photos of the rental to record its condition.
- Leave a review! Hosts rely on good reviews to propel future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
