Tricks and tips for getting the perfect Myrtle Beach rental home experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is the most expensive season along the coast of SC. Reserving a rental home in Spring or Fall is an excellent way to save on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
- Many rental management companies supply Myrtle Beach area travel guide magazines which often include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
How to choose the best vacation home in Myrtle Beach:
- Select a group leader, select your trip dates, and choose a spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration you need. Stunning modern townhouse just steps to the beach! Garage, elevator, beach gear! has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally available on booking pages. Otherwise, reach out to the property owner before you book your home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches. You'll need to determine what configuration is suitable for your trip.
- If your family is bringing pets, you must book a pet-friendly property. Request details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some hosts charge additional pet fees.
- Is your family looking for specific amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Know before you go:
- Store the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental while you're out and about. Keep your property safe!
- To make certain that damages aren't attributed to your family's stay, make note of any problem areas during check in. Call the host right away to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Double-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental one final time and scan for damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a great vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
