How to get the best Myrtle Beach rental home experience:
Getting the most from your rental budget:
- Summer months are the most expensive season in Myrtle Beach. Reserve your vacation in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Property management companies sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
- Booking websites usually offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Many management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Choose a group leader, select your dates, and choose a budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. stylish coastal condo with beautiful ocean views! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often available on booking websites. If not, email the property manager before you reserve the home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to work out what configuration is optimal for your trip.
- Visiting for a single attraction? Try a map search to find nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, filter your search for a property that allows animals. Ask for details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some hosts charge additional pet fees.
More considerations:
- Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
- At Check-in, make note of any damages to the property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors bothering your peace and quiet. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would have never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your rental property while you are out! Don't let thieves spoil your trip.
- Re-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the rental one final time and look for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host is not available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your family have a fantastic stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
