Myrtle Beach vacation rental home tips and tricks:
How to get the best rental value:
- Summer is the most expensive season in coastal SC. To book the largest rental home for your budget, we recommend reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at Myrtle Beach restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- The earlier you can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best properties are reserved very early. Booking your vacation home six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
- Booking websites frequently offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guide magazines contain coupons for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Finding the best rental:
- Select a group lead, choose your vacation week, and choose a spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Sun, Sand & Pool! One block from the beach! has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally available on booking websites. If they are not listed, email or call the property owner before you book the rental. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking.
- Some rentals allow pets, and some do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the owner about pets before booking.
During your stay:
- Add the host's information to your phone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- To make certain damages aren't attributed to your visit, inspect the property for any problem areas upon check in. text the property manager right away to record any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, television set or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent lots of difficulties.
- Be respectful. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your rental while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- Re-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your family have a excellent time? Most rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
