Tricks and tips to get the best rental home experience:
Sticking to a spending budget:
- Summertime is the most expensive season in coastal SC. Reserve your rental property in Fall or Spring to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Owners sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family.
- Property managers typically offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
- Many property management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Selecting the perfect vacation rental:
- Start by selecting potential vacation weeks and a spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration you need. Supreme Oceanfront Studio\/ Dogs OK! has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is normally available on booking pages. If they are not listed, email or call the property management company before you book the home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to determine what is best for your group.
- If there's a specific Myrtle Beach beach you crave, keep an eye out for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental
- Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or charges could be applied to your contract.
Some things to know before you go:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the directions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
- To ensure that no damages are attributed to your family's stay, record any problem areas when you arrive. Speak to the rental manager immediately to relay your findings. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent a lot of difficulties.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors bothering your peace and quiet. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would have never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can often help. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let burglars ruin your holiday.
- Double-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the host isn't available, remember to take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a fantastic vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
