How to find the best Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:
When to go & When to book:
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. Reserve your vacation in the Fall or Spring to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Owners sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
- Property management companies usually offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area travel guides which often include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Selecting the perfect vacation rental in the Myrtle Beach area:
- First and foremost, have your group select dates and a spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. Third-floor ocean-view condo with pool, hot tub, AC & WiFi - dogs OK has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email the property management company before you book the rental. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to establish which bed configuration is right for your vacation.
- Some properties allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- If there's an individual Myrtle Beach attraction you love, keep an eye out for homes that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
During your stay:
- We recommend storing the owner's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents lots of concerns.
- Lock your rental home while you're out and about. Keep your property safe!
- Upon check-in, document any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be an excellent resource to find the best local spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Re-check the property to confirm that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager is not available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Did your family have a great vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
