Tips and Tricks to get the best Myrtle Beach rental home experience:
Getting the most from your budget:
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Booking in Spring or Fall is an excellent way to save on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property managers usually offer their guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, visitors guides contain money saving offers on nearby shops and restaurants.
Finding the best vacation rental in Myrtle Beach:
- Start by selecting your trip dates and a spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Third-floor ocean-view condo with pool, hot tub, AC & WiFi - dogs OK has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach vacation rental search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is commonly accessible online. If they are not listed, contact the property management company before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly property. Get information on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some hosts charge additional pet fees.
- If there's a specific Myrtle Beach attraction you long to visit, search for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking
More tips for your stay:
- Get the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, television set or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent a lot of issues.
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are out, just like you would at home.
- Note any damages to the property during check in, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be valuable if damages are assessed.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a great resource to find the best local scenic spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Re-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can. If the manager is not available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on great ratings to propel future bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
