Tips to get the optimal Myrtle Beach rental experience:
Finding your perfect vacation home:
- Summer months are high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Booking your vacation home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is a great way to save money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- The earlier your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked very early. Booking your vacation rental six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitor guide magazines have coupons for local tours, shops, and attractions.
Make a plan and pick a perfectvacation home:
- Begin by choosing your a vacation week and a spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Thompson Time in Ocean Lakes, 3 Bdr 2 Ba has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is often accessible online. If they are not listed, reach out to the property manager before booking the property. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to establish what configuration is optimal for your vacation.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? If so, use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
- Some rental properties allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable breeds and types before booking.
Have a fantastic stay:
- Store the owner's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Upon arrival, document any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the host. Record all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent many concerns.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors disrupting your peace and quiet. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your rental property while you're out! Don't let burglars spoil your vacation.
- When it's time to leave, take a final walk-through to make sure you haven't forget any personal items. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a terrific time? Many rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your property and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
