Our top Rental property booking tips:
When to visit Myrtle Beach & When to book:
- The earlier you can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are booked early. Booking your rental home six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
- Summer is the most expensive season in coastal SC. To find the best value, try shifting your family's Myrtle Beach vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area travel guides which often include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Finding the perfect vacation home in the Myrtle Beach area:
- Begin by choosing the best vacation week and a max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Thompson Time in Ocean Lakes, 3 Bdr 2 Ba has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is normally available on booking pages. If they are not listed, email the property manager before you reserve the home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You will need to determine which bed configuration is best for your family.
- Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or charges could be applied to your contract.
- Does your group require special amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
More tips for your stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Save the directions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Keep your rental home locked while you're gone! Don't let burglars spoil your trip.
- During check-in, make note of any damages to the property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Frequently, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- When it's time to leave, take a walk-through to make sure you haven't forget any personal items. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
- Did your group have a terrific time? Many rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
