Rental home tips and tricks:
Get the best rental value:
- Booking in the Spring or Fall is an excellent way to save on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner your group can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The best properties are booked very early. Booking your vacation property 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
- Owners sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
- Booking websites typically offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Often, property management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guide magazines which include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Make a plan and choose the perfectvacation home:
- Select a group lead, choose your vacation week, and choose a budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Fantastic Ocean Front Condo T1801 at The Myrtle Beach Resort has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is almost always available on booking pages. If not, call the property manager before booking the vacation property. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to establish what configuration is optimal for your family.
- Are you looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the owner about pets before booking.
During your stay:
- Get the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. Store the host's information in your smartphone.
- During arrival, make note of any issues with the property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent quite a few difficulties.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors bothering your peaceful home life. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and places you would have never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are out, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the property to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host isn't available, take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
- Did you have a great stay? Most rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
