How to get the best vacation rental experience:
When to visit & When to reserve a Myrtle Beach rental home:
- The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation rental six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
- Summer is the most expensive season in Myrtle Beach. To find the best rental home for your budget, we recommend reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite Myrtle Beach restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
- Owners sometimes offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites often offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guide magazines contain deals for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Make a plan and pick your prefect Myrtle Beach vacation home:
- To start, have your family commit to trip dates and a budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Two Bedroom Lodge Villa in a 57 Acre Resort + Official On-Site Rental Privileges has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is normally available on booking pages. If not, email or call the host before you reserve your rental. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Some rentals allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask your host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- If there's a certain Myrtle Beach beach you long to visit, look for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking
During your stay:
- Get the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. Put the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Make a record of any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be very helpful if damages are assessed.
- Be respectful. Often times, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- When it's time to leave, take a walk-through to confirm you didn't forget any personal items. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a terrific vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
