Tips and Tricks to get the best rental home experience:
When to visit & When to reserve a rental home:
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Booking your vacation home in Fall or Spring is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Booking websites typically offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guide magazines have deals for local accommodations, tours and attractions.
Choosing the perfect vacation home in Myrtle Beach:
- Choose a group leader, select your dates, and choose a max budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Two story beach house on stilts has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly available online. If you don't see them listed, call the property manager before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to determine what is right for your vacation family.
- If your family is bringing pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a specific Myrtle Beach attraction you crave, keep an eye out for homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
Additional considerations:
- Be sure you get the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your . Put the manager's information in your smartphone.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental home while you're out. Protect your property!
- Make a record of any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are very helpful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Respect your neighbors. Often, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- On check-out day, complete a final walk-through to confirm you haven't forget anything. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and look for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your group have a excellent vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
