Rental home tips and tricks:
Get the most from your budget:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. Reserve your Myrtle Beach rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Booking websites frequently offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guide magazines have money saving offers on nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Select a group lead, select your vacation week, and select a spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Unit C9, 5 BR, 3 BA House w 4 decks. Near Beach and Pool has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is almost always available on booking websites. Otherwise, email the property owner before you book your rental. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- If there's an individual Myrtle Beach attraction you are crazy about, keep an eye out for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and some do not. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property management company about pets before booking.
Have a great stay:
- Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your . Put the host's information in your smartphone.
- Note any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be helpful if damages are assessed.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a great resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can often help. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are out, just like you would at home.
- Just prior to departing, complete a final walk-through to confirm you haven't forget anything. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property a final time and look for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your group have a terrific time? Most rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
