Myrtle Beach vacation rental booking tips and tricks:
Sticking to your spending plan:
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is our favorite way to save money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Hosts sometimes offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
- Property management companies usually offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guides have offers and deals for local tours, shops, and attractions.
Selecting the perfect vacation rental in Myrtle Beach:
- Select your vacation week and max budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration you need. Wave's Edge Four Bedroom Oceanfront Condo 6th Flr has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is usually available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the property manager before reserving the property. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Some properties allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
- If there's a particular Myrtle Beach destination you are crazy about, search for properties that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.
Know before you go:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your phone.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Lock your vacation home while you are out and about. Keep your property safe!
- To make certain that damages are not attributed to your family's visit, record any problem areas upon check in. Contact the host right away to document any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Respect your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Re-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a terrific time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or host was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
