How to find the best rental home experience:
Get the most from your budget:
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- To find the best rental for your budget, we suggest booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite Myrtle Beach restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property managers frequently offer customers an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines contain money saving offers on local tours and attractions.
Narrow your rental Search:
- Choose dates and budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Luxury Ocean Lake Campground Beach House has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is usually accessible online. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property management company before booking the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Some rental properties allow pets, but others don't. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the owner about pets before booking.
- Visiting for a specific event or attraction? If so, use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental
Advice for a fantastic stay:
- Be sure you get the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. Put the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents a lot of concerns.
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would back home.
- Note any damages to the property at check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are very helpful if there is a dispute.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a terrific resource to find the best local attractions.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can usually help. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all belongings. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on great ratings to drive more bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will appreciate that you share your experience find their best vacation rental. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
