Tips and Tricks to get the best vacation home experience:
How to get the best value:
- To get the best value, try changing your family's Myrtle Beach vacation dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer excellent weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
- Often, management companies supply Myrtle Beach area travel guides which include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Select dates and budget.
- 4BR\/3BA King Bed Suite has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property management company before reserving your home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.
- If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly property. Ask for details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some property managers charge additional pet fees.
Considerations for your stay:
- Add the owner's contact info to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- To ensure that damages aren't linked to your stay, inspect for any problem areas during arrival. Contact the host right away to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be useful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent many difficulties.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Keep the property locked while you are away! Don't let burglars ruin your family vacation.
- When it's time to leave, take a final walk-through to confirm you did not forget any personal items. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and look for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a terrific time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
