How to book the best Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
When to go & When to book:
- The sooner your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are booked very early. Booking your rental home up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
- Summer is the most expensive season in Myrtle Beach. Booking your Myrtle Beach vacation home in Spring or Fall is a good way to save on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your family.
- Property management companies usually offer their guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guides contain discounts for local accommodations, tours and attractions.
Narrow your rental Search:
- Choose a designated group leader, select your vacation week, and select a spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. B515 Beachfront Bliss at Myrtle Beach Resort: Your Dream Vacation has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly available online. If they are not listed, contact the property management company before you reserve the property. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to work out what is best for your group.
- If your family is traveling with pets, search for a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Often, property managers charge additional pet fees.
- Are you looking for unique amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. .
Advice for your stay:
- Be sure you get the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your .
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are away, just like you would at home.
- Record any damages to the property during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be helpful if damages are assessed.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors bothering your peaceful home. Apply the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would have never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- When it's time to leave, take a final walk-through to make sure you did not leave anything behind. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and scan for damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a wonderful stay? Many rental managers make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
