Myrtle Beach vacation rental booking tips and tricks:
Sticking to your spending budget:
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best properties are booked very early. Booking your rental home six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
- Reserve your vacation in Fall or Spring months to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Some owners offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies often offer guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Often, property management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guides which often include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Choose a group leader, choose your vacation dates, and select a maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Your Fabulous Vacation Starts Here! On The Beach, Sleeps 6-8, Low Winter Rates has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach vacation rental search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always accessible online. If they are not listed, contact the host before you book the rental. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds.
- If your group is bringing pets, you will need a pet-friendly rental. Request specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction? Use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
Additional considerations:
- Add the owner's contact information to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental property while you're gone! Don't let burglars spoil your trip.
- Make a record of any damages to the property at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are valuable if there is a dispute.
- Respect your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Just before checking out, take a walk-through to confirm you didn't forget any personal items. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a fantastic vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
