Tips and Tricks to get the optimal vacation home experience:
Getting the most from your vacation rental budget:
- To book the best vacation home for your budget, we recommend booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities.
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Booking websites typically offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, visitor guides contain coupons for local shops and restaurants.
Filter your rental search:
- Select vacation week and max budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group needs. 40 ft to the ocean 4 bd\/3 bath ocean view beach house sleeps has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, call the property management company before reserving the rental. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to work out what is right for your trip.
- Visiting for a specific event? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Some properties allow pets, and some do not. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the property manager about pet restrictions before booking.
During your stay:
- Add the property manager's contact info to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- To ensure that damages aren't linked to your family's stay, make a record of any problem areas during arrival. Contact the rental manager right away to document your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, elevator or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent a lot of difficulties.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers bothering your peaceful home. Apply the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would have never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are gone, just like you would back home.
- At departure, take a final walk-through to make sure you did not forget any personal items. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave feedback! Property managers rely on great reviews to drive more bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your review find their best vacation rental. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
