Tips and Tricks to get the best Myrtle Beach vacation property experience:
When to visit & When to book:
- The earlier you can book, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked early. Booking your vacation rental six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
- Summer is the most expensive season along the coast of SC. To get the largest vacation home for your budget, we recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite Myrtle Beach restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guides which include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
How to select the perfect vacation home in Myrtle Beach:
- Choose your dates and budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your family needs. Coastal Gateway OF 3 BR Condo 15th Floor has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is commonly available online. If they are not listed, email the host before reserving the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You will need to determine what configuration is best for your group.
- Some properties allow pets, but others don't. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the host about your furry family members before booking.
- Visiting for a single event? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Have a wonderful stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the instructions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, television set or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent many difficulties.
- Lock your rental property while you're away! Don't let thieves spoil your family vacation.
- Record any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be beneficial if a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors disrupting your life at home. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected everything. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a terrific stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
