Strategies for getting the perfect Myrtle Beach rental home experience:
When to visit Myrtle Beach & When to book:
- Reserving a rental home in Fall or Spring months is our favorite way to save money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes.
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your family qualifies for a discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer customers an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines contain offers and deals for nearby accommodations and attractions.
Selecting the best vacation rental in the Myrtle Beach area:
- Start by choosing a vacation week and a budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration you need. Oceanfront Three Bedroom Condo: 6th Floor has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is almost always available online. If they are not listed, email or call the property owner before reserving the rental. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to work out what bed configuration is right for your vacation family.
- Is your family looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you must book a pet-friendly property. Ask for details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
Advice for a wonderful stay:
- Be sure you get the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
- At Check-in, make note of any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are away, just like you would back home.
- Re-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed everything on check-out day. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a terrific time? Most rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
