Tips to get the perfect Myrtle Beach rental experience:
How to get the best rental value:
- Summer months are the most expensive season in coastal SC. To find the best value, try shifting your trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer warmer temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic.
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property management companies typically offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guides have deals for nearby accommodations and attractions.
Choosing and booking the perfect Myrtle Beach rental home:
- Choose your dates and spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Heated Indoor Pools, Remodel Oceanfront King bed! has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is generally available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the property management company before reserving the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- If there's an individual Myrtle Beach beach you simply love, look for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
- Some rentals allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the owner about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
Additional considerations:
- Add the owner's information to your phone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- To make certain damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, note any problem areas upon your arrival. Call the property manager immediately to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents lots of concerns.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your vacation home while you are out and about. Keep your property safe!
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected everything. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave feedback! Property managers rely on great reviews to propel future bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
