Rental booking tips and tricks:
How to get the best rental value:
- June, July, and August are high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To get the best value, change your family's Myrtle Beach vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer great weather, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- The sooner your group can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are reserved very early. Booking your rental six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property managers often offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guide magazines have coupons for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Select a group leader, select your vacation week, and choose a maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your group requires. Tranquil Oceanfront Three Bedroom Condo 10th Flr has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach vacation rental search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, contact the property owner before you book your home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? Use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, search for a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for details on breed, size, and type requirements. Some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
Some things to know before you go:
- Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your . Store the manager's information in your smartphone.
- To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, record any problem areas upon your arrival. Speak to the property manager right away to relay any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors disrupting your home life. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and places you would have never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your vacation home while you're away. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a excellent vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
