Vacation rental booking tips and tricks:
When to book & When to go:
- Summer months are the most expensive season in coastal SC. To find the best value, try changing your vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer excellent weather, , and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your group qualifies for a discount.
- Property managers usually offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guide magazines have deals for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
How to choose the perfect rental home:
- Select your dates and max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Three Bedroom Ocean Front Condo, Myrtle Beach (2171704) has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is often available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property manager before booking the property. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds. You'll need to work out what is suitable for your trip.
- Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental
- If your group is bringing pets, search for a property that allows animals. Request details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
More considerations:
- Add the owner's information to your phone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Note any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be valuable if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents lots of issues.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your rental while you're out. Protect your property!
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent reviews to drive more reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your feedback find their best vacation home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
