Tips to get the optimal vacation home experience:

Sticking to your rental budget:

  • Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summertime is the most expensive season along the coast of SC. To get the best value, shift your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer great weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • Owners sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer renters an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guide magazines have money saving offers on nearby tours, shops, and attractions.

Planning, picking, and booking the perfectrental home:

  • First, have your group commit to vacation dates and a budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration you need. 12th floor Sun and Fun 2BR\/2BA @ Myrtle Beach Resort has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is usually accessible online. Otherwise, contact the host before you book your home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches.
  • Some rentals allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the property manager about pets before booking.
  • Are you visiting for a single attraction? Use a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

More considerations:

  • Take a copy of the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home. Put the host's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're away! Don't let burglars spoil your family vacation.
  • Upon arrival, document any issues with the property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a great source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Upon check-out, complete a walk-through to confirm you haven't forget anything. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent reviews to compel future reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
