Our top Vacation rental tips and tricks:
When to visit & When to book:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. Booking your vacation rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is our favorite way to save money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier your group can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved very early. Booking your vacation home up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
- Some owners offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites often offer guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guide magazines which include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
How to pick the perfect vacation rental:
- Select dates and max budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your family requires. 2nd Floor Oceanfront Snowbird Friendly Condo w\/ AC, Shared Pool\/Hot Tub, WiFi has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is generally available on booking websites. If not, contact the property manager before reserving your home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches.
- If there's a specific Myrtle Beach beach you crave, keep an eye out for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
- If your group is traveling with pets, search for a rental that allows animals. Get specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, property managers charge additional pet fees.
More considerations for your visit:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your smartphone.
- Upon check-in, record any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Record all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents lots of issues.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all of your things. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, remember to take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent ratings to compel new reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will appreciate that you share your experience find their best vacation rental. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
