Our top Rental home tips and tricks:
Finding the best rental home value:
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- To get the best value, change your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer pleasant weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
- Owners sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer renters an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, visitors guides have discounts for local shops and restaurants.
Planning, picking, and booking the perfectrental:
- Start by choosing your vacation dates and a max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. 3 Bedroom, 2 Bath- sleeps 7 -Ocean Lakes Campground- WIFI- Pet Friendly has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rental home search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is often available on booking websites. Otherwise, email the host before reserving the rental. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to work out what bed configuration is best for your vacation.
- If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly rental. Ask for information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Be aware that some hosts charge additional pet fees.
- Are you visiting for a single attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking.
More considerations for your visit:
- Take a copy of the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your vacation home while you are out. Keep your property safe!
- At Check-in, note any issues with the property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers bothering your peaceful home life. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- When it's time to leave, complete a final walk-through to make sure you haven't forget any personal items. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on great feedback to compel more bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your feedback find their best vacation home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
