Rental home tips and tricks:

When to visit Myrtle Beach & When to reserve a rental home:

  • Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer time is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To find the most suitable rental for your budget, we highly recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at Myrtle Beach restaurants, beaches, and activities.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property managers usually offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Look for your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines have deals for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Narrow your rental Search:

  • Begin by selecting the best vacation week and a max budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your group needs. 3 bedroom 2 bathroom apartment has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email the host before reserving the property. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to work out what configuration is optimal for your vacation group.
  • If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly property. Ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, property managers charge additional pet fees.
  • Visiting for a specific event or attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental

Some things to know before you go:

  • Get the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, television set or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents quite a few concerns.
  • Lock your vacation home while you're away. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • During arrival, record any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers bothering your home life. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • When it's time to leave, complete a final walk-through to make sure you didn't forget any personal items. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the host is not available, remember to take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Leave feedback! Property owners rely on good feedback to compel future bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your experience find their best rental home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
