Strategies for getting the perfect Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
When to go & When to book:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. To get the best vacation home for your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular Myrtle Beach attractions and restaurants.
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property managers frequently offer guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines contain deals for local accommodations, tours and attractions.
Selecting the perfect vacation rental in the Myrtle Beach area:
- Select a group leader, select your vacation dates, and choose a budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Snowbird Rates Available - Beautiful 3-Bedroom Condo Facing the Ocean! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rental home search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, email the property management company before reserving the property. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Does your family require special amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking
- Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or costs may be applied to your agreement.
Advice for your stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
- During check-in, record any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Be respectful. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are away, just like you would back home.
- When it's time to leave, take a walk-through to confirm you haven't forget any personal items. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a excellent vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
