How to get the best rental home experience:
How to get the best rental home value:
- Summer is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To find the best value, change your family's Myrtle Beach vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer excellent temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some property management companies offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer renters an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, visitors guides have offers and deals for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Start by having your group agree to trip dates and a budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your group needs. 309,Clean Beautiful 6BR, 3 bath, Slps14,Ocean & Lake View, W\/ WiFi has 7 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, contact the property manager before you book the home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to determine what configuration is best for your vacation family.
- Visiting for a specific event or attraction? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- If your group is bringing pets, you will need a pet-friendly rental. Get specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
Some things to know before you go:
- Get the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your .
- Document any damages to the property during check in, and immediately contact the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are useful if a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents lots of difficulties.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would have not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Lock your vacation home while you are out. Protect your property!
- At departure, complete a final walk-through to make sure you have not forget any personal items. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a wonderful time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
