Tips to get the best vacation property experience:
Getting the best value:
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner you can book, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved early. Reserving your vacation property six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
- Summer months are the most expensive season in Myrtle Beach. To find the best value, consider shifting your family's Myrtle Beach vacation week to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Some property managers offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers usually offer renters an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guides contain discounts for local accommodations, tours and attractions.
Choosing and booking the right Myrtle Beach rental home:
- To start, have your group select the best dates and a budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Oversized 6BR Multi-Unit Suite-Oceanfront Compass Cove 1216 and 1217 has 7 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email the property owner before you reserve the rental. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to work out what configuration is suitable for your vacation.
- Some rentals allow pets, but some do not. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property manager about your furry family members before booking.
- Are you visiting for a single attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking
Know before you go:
- Be sure you get the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent many concerns.
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are away, just like you would back home.
- Upon check-in, make note of any damages to the property and immediately alert the host. Record all coorespondence.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a great source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- When it's time to leave, complete a walk-through to confirm you haven't forget any personal items. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property a final time and scan for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photographs of the property to record its condition.
- Did you have a fantastic stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
