Our top Vacation rental booking tips and tricks:
When to visit Myrtle Beach & When to reserve a Myrtle Beach rental home:
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- To find the best value, shift your family's Myrtle Beach vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer warm weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property managers often offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guides have discounts for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
Selecting and booking the right Myrtle Beach vacation home:
- Select a designated group leader, select your vacation week, and choose a budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. King Bed in Master Pool View 1200 SF has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is generally available on booking pages. If they are not listed, contact the host before reserving the property. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds. You'll need to establish what is optimal for your vacation.
- Some rentals allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
- If there's a certain Myrtle Beach destination you are enamored with, search for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
Tips for your stay:
- Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, television set or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent many issues.
- Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Record any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be helpful if a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers disrupting your peaceful home life. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would have not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Just prior to departing, complete a walk-through to confirm you haven't leave anything behind. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a great stay? Many rental managers make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
