How to get the best Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:
Find your perfect rental home:
- Summer is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Booking a rental in Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Owners sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers typically offer renters an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides contain deals for nearby tours and attractions.
Selecting the perfect rental home in Myrtle Beach:
- To start, have your group decide on a vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. 3br Deluxe Condo Family Fun on Myrtle Beach! has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rental home search.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the host before booking the home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to determine what configuration is best for your vacation.
- Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? If so, use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly rental. Get information on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, property managers charge additional pet fees.
Some things to know before you go:
- We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone.
- Record any issues with the property at check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be very helpful if a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, television set or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents lots of problems.
- Be respectful. Often times, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your rental property while you are away! Don't let thieves spoil your vacation.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all personal items. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a excellent time? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
