Rental home tips and tricks:
Find your perfect vacation home:
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer is high season in Myrtle Beach. Booking your Myrtle Beach vacation rental in Spring or Fall is an excellent way to save on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Hosts sometimes offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family.
- Property management companies often offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guides which often include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Make a plan and choose the bestrental:
- Select a designated group leader, choose your vacation dates, and choose a max budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. 3br Lockoff Condo Myrtle Beach Family Fun! has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, email or call the property manager before booking your rental. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or costs may be applied to your agreement.
- Is your group looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.
Advice for a fantastic stay:
- Get the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. Store the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your rental property while you are out! Don't let thieves ruin your vacation.
- During arrival, record any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Upon check-out, take a walk-through to make sure you did not leave anything behind. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a terrific time? Many rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
