How to find the best Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
When to visit Myrtle Beach & When to reserve a Myrtle Beach rental home:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Myrtle Beach area. To get the best rental for your budget, we recommend booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at Myrtle Beach restaurants, tours, and activities.
- The sooner you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best properties are booked very early. Reserving your vacation property up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
- Hosts sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers usually offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guide magazines contain offers and deals for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Select a group leader, choose your vacation week, and select a maximum budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your family requires. 4 Bed\/3Bath\/Centrally Located has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always available online. If they are not listed, email or call the property management company before you reserve your rental. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds.
- Is your group looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental home.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Some rentals allow pets, and others don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property management company about your furry family members before booking.
Know before you go:
- Get the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- To make sure no damages are attributed to your stay, note any problem areas during check in. E-mail the property manager right away to report any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent a lot of problems.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a fantastic vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or host was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
