Tips to get the optimal Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:

Sticking to your rental home budget:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Myrtle Beach area. Booking a rental in Fall or Spring is an excellent way to save money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties.
  • Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Owners sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Property management companies usually offer guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines contain deals for local shops and restaurants.

Filter your search:

  • To start, have your family choose a vacation week and a spending budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your family needs. 4BR\/3BA in Ocean Lakes Campground Homesite has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is regularly available on booking pages. If not, contact the property management company before you reserve your rental. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds.
  • If there's a particular Myrtle Beach destination you love, look for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental
  • Some rentals allow pets, and others don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask your host about allowable breeds and types before booking.

Additional considerations:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your phone.
  • Note any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be beneficial if a dispute arises.
  • Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Be respectful. Frequently, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • Double-check the property to confirm that you've packed everything at check-out. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, remember to take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a great stay? Many rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
