Tips and Tricks to get the perfect Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
Getting the most from your spending budget:
- June, July, and August are high season in Myrtle Beach. Booking in the Fall or Spring is our favorite way to save money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some owners offer special rates for veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Property managers usually offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guide magazines have money saving offers on nearby shops and restaurants.
Make a plan and pick your prefect Myrtle Beach rental home:
- Start by having your family select a vacation week and a budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your group needs. 5th-floor ocean-view studio with pool, hot tub, WiFi & AC - dog-friendly has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually accessible online. Otherwise, email or call the property owner before booking your rental. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds. You'll need to work out what configuration is right for your family.
- Visiting for a specific event? If so, use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
- If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly property. Get information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
Have a great stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your phone.
- To make sure that no damages are attributed to your family's stay, note any problem areas upon check in. message the property manager right away to report any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, intercom or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent quite a few issues.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors disrupting your peace. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would have not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Double-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at departure. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can. If the manager is not available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a terrific stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
