Tricks and tips to get the perfect vacation property experience:
Finding the best rental value:
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is the most expensive season along the coast of SC. To get the most suitable vacation home within budget, we suggest reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular Myrtle Beach attractions. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
- Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines contain coupons for nearby accommodations and attractions.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- First, have your family select dates and a max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. 7th-floor oceanfront studio with balcony, beach views, hot tubs, pools, gym, AC has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rental home search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available on booking pages. Otherwise, email or call the property manager before you reserve the vacation property. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, search for a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a specific Myrtle Beach attraction you love, look for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before booking
More considerations:
- Get the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental. We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are out, just like you would back home.
- During check-in, record any issues with the property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a great source for finding the best local scenic spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Double-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a fantastic time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
