Tricks and tips to get the best vacation home experience:
When to go & When to book:
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier your group can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are booked early. Reserving your vacation rental up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. To find the best value, try changing your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer pleasant temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guides contain discounts for nearby accommodations and attractions.
How to select the perfect rental in the Myrtle Beach area:
- Start by having your family agree to vacation dates and a budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. 8th Floor Beachfront Getaway in Two Bedroom Bliss has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available on booking pages. If not, reach out to the property owner before booking the property. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches.
- If your family is bringing pets, you must reserve a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a specific Myrtle Beach destination you are crazy about, look for homes that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental
During your stay:
- Get the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Keep the property locked while you are away! Don't let thieves ruin your trip.
- Record any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be helpful if a dispute is filed.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all personal items. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on great feedback to stimulate future bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will appreciate that you share your review find their best vacation rental. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
