Tricks and tips to get the optimal vacation home experience:
How to get the best value:
- The sooner your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved early. Booking your vacation property up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
- To get the best value, try shifting your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer warm temperatures, , and reduced traffic.
- Owners sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your family.
- Property managers usually offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guide magazines have coupons for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Narrow your rental Search:
- First and foremost, have your group agree to a vacation week and a spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. 8th-floor ocean-view studio with pool, hot tub, WiFi & AC - snowbird-friendly has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is almost always accessible online. Otherwise, reach out to the property manager before reserving your rental. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to work out what configuration is best for your group.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or might be applied to your agreement.
- Are you looking for unique amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
Have a wonderful stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent a lot of issues.
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are away, just like you would at home.
- Make a record of any issues with the property at check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be helpful if a dispute is filed.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be an incredible resource to find the best local beaches.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can often help. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Double-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed everything at check-out. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on great ratings to drive new reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
