Tips and Tricks to get the best Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:
Getting the best rental home value:
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer months are the most expensive season in the Myrtle Beach area. To get the best value, consider changing your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer excellent weather, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Booking websites often offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area travel guide magazines which include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Select a group lead, select your trip dates, and choose a maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. 9th Floor Ocean View Snowbird Friendly Studio w\/ Shared Pool\/Hot Tub, AC, WiFi has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rental home search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, email or call the property owner before you book the home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to determine what configuration is right for your vacation.
- If your family is traveling with pets, search for a property that allows animals. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Are you visiting for a specific event? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
More tips for your visit:
- Be sure you get the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property. Store the host's information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, intercom or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent many difficulties.
- Lock your rental property while you're away! Don't let thieves ruin your vacation.
- Note any issues with the property at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are useful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Be a good neighbor. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- On check-out day, complete a walk-through to make sure you did not forget any personal items. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a wonderful stay? Most rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
