Our top Myrtle Beach rental home tips:
Get the best value:
- To get the best value, consider changing your family's Myrtle Beach vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer pleasant weather, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property management companies usually offer renters an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Many rental management companies supply Myrtle Beach area travel guide magazines that include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Planning, selecting, and booking the perfect Myrtle Beach rental home:
- Select a designated group leader, choose your dates, and select a max budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your group needs. Winter By The Sea
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always available online. Otherwise, call the property manager before you book the home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- If there's a certain Myrtle Beach destination you are enamored with, search for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Additional pet fees or charges may be applied to your invoice.
More tips for your visit:
- Take a copy of the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property. We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Note any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately contact the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be valuable if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, intercom or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents a lot of problems.
- Be respectful. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your rental while you are out and about. Protect your property!
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on good reviews to compel more bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will appreciate that you share your feedback find their best rental home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
