Strategies to get the best rental home experience:
Sticking to your spending plan:
- The sooner you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved early. Booking your rental property six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. To find the best value, consider shifting your family's Myrtle Beach trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer great weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic.
- Some property managers offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guides have discounts for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Planning and choosing yourrental:
- Select a group leader, select your vacation week, and choose a spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Bayside Beauty with Low Flr Access: Sleeps 8 has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is regularly available on booking pages. Otherwise, call the property manager before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches.
- If your family is bringing pets, you will need a rental that allows animals. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
- Is your family looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
Some things to know before you go:
- Be sure you get the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, stereo or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent quite a few issues.
- Keep the property locked while you're away! Don't let burglars spoil your holiday.
- Make a record of any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be useful if a dispute arises.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a terrific resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Just before checking out, take a final walk-through to confirm you haven't leave anything behind. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the property a final time and scan for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take photographs of the property to record its condition.
- Did your family have a great vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
