How to find the best Myrtle Beach rental home experience:
Sticking to your rental budget:
- To get the best value, consider changing your family's Myrtle Beach vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer excellent weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Hosts sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers usually offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guides contain deals for local tours, shops, and attractions.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Select a group leader, choose your vacation week, and choose a spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Ocean Lakes Site 1788 5bed 3.5 bath has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email the property manager before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds.
- Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
- Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or costs applied to your contract.
Know before you go:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your phone.
- Note any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are helpful if a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, stereo or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent quite a few concerns.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and places you would've not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would at home.
- Double-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property one final time and look for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, ensure that you take photos of the rental to record its condition.
- Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent feedback to compel new reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
