How to get the best Myrtle Beach rental home experience:
When to go & When to book:
- Summer is the most expensive season in coastal SC. To get the best rental home within budget, we highly recommend reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities.
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Property managers typically offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
- Often, management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guide magazines which often include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Planning, picking, and booking the perfect Myrtle Beach rental home:
- To start, have your family choose dates and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Beachy Sea Glass Tower, 1 Bedroom Standard- Limited View, 25 Steps From Water has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally available online. Otherwise, contact the property management company before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to establish what configuration is best for your vacation family.
- Visiting for a specific event? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
- Some properties allow pets, but others don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the host about your furry family members before booking.
Additional considerations:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your smartphone.
- Make a record of any damages to the property upon arrival, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be useful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Respect your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are out, just like you would back home.
- Double-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the rental one final time and look for damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a fantastic time? Many rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
