Tips and Tricks to get the perfect Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. To find the best value, change your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer warmer temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
  • In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are booked very early. Reserving your vacation property up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your family qualifies for a discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer customers an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guide magazines that include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Finding the best vacation home in the Myrtle Beach area:

  • Choose dates and max budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Beautiful 5BR Beach House Ocean Lakes with Ocean and Lake Views has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach vacation rental search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available online. If you don't see them listed, email the property owner before you book the property. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to determine what bed configuration is optimal for your vacation family.
  • Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Usually, property managers charge additional pet fees.

Have a fantastic stay:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
  • Document any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are valuable if a dispute arises.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a terrific source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all belongings. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your group have a terrific stay? Most rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property manager was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
