Strategies to get the optimal vacation rental experience:
Get the most from your budget:
- Summer months are high season in Myrtle Beach. To find the best value, shift your family's Myrtle Beach vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer warmer weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic.
- The earlier you can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are reserved early. Booking your rental home six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
- Some property managers offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites often offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines contain deals for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Begin by choosing the best vacation week and a spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your group needs. BEAUTIFUL BEACH COTTAGE PERFECT YEAR ROUND FOR YOUR BEACH GET AWAY has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach vacation rental search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is generally available on booking websites. If not, call the host before booking your home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- If there's a certain Myrtle Beach destination you crave, browse homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
- If your group is traveling with pets, you must book a rental that allows animals. Get specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Usually, property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
Know before you go:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your phone.
- Record any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are valuable if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a terrific resource to find the best local spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Lock your rental while you are out. Keep your property safe!
- Just prior to departing, complete a final walk-through to confirm you didn't forget anything. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, remember to take photographs of the property to record its condition.
- Did your family have a excellent vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
