Tips and Tricks for getting the perfect Myrtle Beach vacation property experience:
When to book & When to go:
- To get the best value, consider shifting your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer warm weather, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
- Many rental management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guides which include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Choosing and booking the rightrental home:
- Choose dates and budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Large Oceanfront 3 Bdrm (11th Floor) - by Luxury Beach Rentals has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually accessible online. If you don't see them listed, contact the property management company before reserving the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks.
- If there's an individual Myrtle Beach beach you love, search for properties that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.
- If your family is bringing pets, you must reserve a property that allows animals. Ask for information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
Additional considerations:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Save the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
- Upon check-in, record any issues with the property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often an incredible resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Double-check the property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the rental one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the host isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
- Did your family have a great vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
