Tips to get the optimal rental home experience:
When to visit Myrtle Beach & When to book:
- The sooner your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved very early. Reserving your rental six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
- Summer time is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Book your vacation in the Fall or Spring to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
- Some hosts offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your family.
- Property managers frequently offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guides have discounts for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Filter your rental search:
- First, have your family commit to the best dates and a max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Ocean Lakes S-28 Breathtaking Lake View 4bdrm 3.5 bath, sleeps 11, 2 King beds has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is commonly accessible on booking pages. If not, contact the host before reserving the vacation home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or charges may be applied to your agreement.
- If there's an individual Myrtle Beach beach you love, search for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking
More tips for your stay:
- We recommend storing the owner's contact information in your smartphone.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Lock your vacation home while you're out. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- Upon arrival, make note of any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor. Frequently, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all belongings. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental one final time and look for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a fantastic time? Many rental websites make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property management company was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
