Our top Myrtle Beach rental property booking tips and tricks:
Get the best rental home value:
- The earlier your group can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are reserved very early. Booking your vacation property up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
- Book your rental in Fall or Spring months to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Booking websites frequently offer renters an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
- Often, property management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guide magazines which include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Select your dates and budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Beautiful Ocean View Double Suite + On-Site Pool has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly accessible online. Otherwise, call the property management company before booking the property. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or charges might be applied to your contract.
- Does your group require specific amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental
Know before you go:
- Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would at home.
- Document any issues with the property at check in, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be helpful if damages are assessed.
- Respect your neighbors. Often, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental to make sure you've collected everything. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental a final time and look for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a great time? Most rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
