Tricks and tips to get the best Myrtle Beach vacation property experience:
Sticking to your rental home budget:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. Booking your Myrtle Beach vacation rental in Fall or Spring months is a great way to save money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties.
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property management companies usually offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines have coupons for local accommodations and attractions.
Make a plan and choose a perfect Myrtle Beach vacation home:
- Choose your vacation week and max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Beautifully Updated 1 Bedroom Condo-Golf Colony 19-D-Only 2 Miles To The Beach! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is normally accessible online. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property management company before you book your home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to determine what configuration is suitable for your vacation group.
- Visiting for a single event? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. .
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to search for a property that allows animals. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Be aware that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
More tips for your stay:
- Be sure you get the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
- Note any issues with the property at check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be beneficial if a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents a lot of concerns.
- Be respectful. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your rental while you are out and about. Keep your property safe!
- Just prior to departing, complete a final walk-through to confirm you haven't forget any personal items. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a great time? Many rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
