Tricks and tips for getting the perfect Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:
When to book a Myrtle Beach rental & When to go:
- Summertime is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Reserving a rental home in the Spring or Fall is a great way to save on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes.
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Property managers sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guides contain coupons for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Make a plan and choose a perfect Myrtle Beach vacation home:
- Select your vacation dates and max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Beautifully Updated Studio! Sand Dunes Room 2745 has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is generally available on booking websites. If they are not listed, call the property owner before booking the home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches.
- If there's an individual Myrtle Beach destination you are crazy about, search for homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or applied to your contract.
Tips for your stay:
- Get the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. Put the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- Upon check-in, note any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or kitchen appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents a lot of issues.
- Be a good neighbor. Frequently, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Lock your rental while you are out. Keep your property safe!
- Double-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property one final time and look for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, remember to take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a great time? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
